The 7th International Conference on Seoul Urban Agriculture Expo

소 개 글

UN declared the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as international cooperative agendas (2016-2030) to mitigate the global threats to the sustainability such as socio-economic divide, intensification of various social inequality, and environmental degradation.

To resolve the problems created from the increase of incoming population and densely-populated cities, fundamental shift of paradigm is required. First of all, the safe supply chains of healthy and safe foods are pre-requisite to build and development sustainable urban environment. To this end, urbane agriculture has rapidly grown and expanded its influences in every corner of the world for the last two decades.
About 10 years ago, the urban agriculture of Seoul started its journey as a citizen’s campaign toward a sustainable city. By tackling the climate change, increasing the circulation of resources, building communities, educating on safe and healthy foods, and cooperating with urban regeneration and urban cultures, it has achieved remarkable outcomes and rapid growth.

In this context, the International Conference will be held under the theme of ‘the Urban Agriculture during the Transition Period’ to share the last 10-year experiences, to collect the ideas on how to respond the political, economic, and social transformation, and to set the new directions and strategies of the Seoul Urban Agriculture for the new take-off.

For in-depth discuss, the conference will be divided into two sessions: 1) Future Cities and Urban Agriculture, and 2) Urban Agriculture and Job Creation. At the first session: Future Cities and Urban Agriculture, participants will share their ideas on future cities based on the cities where they live and make proposals on how urban agriculture can be developed in future cities. At the second session: Urban Agriculture and Job Creation, participants will discuss how urban agriculture can change our life and create jobs, and how more people can involve in urban agriculture.
